Another consultation meeting was held on the preparation of the Fifth National Report and the First Biennial Transparency Report (5NC/1BTR) of Georgia

The meeting was attended by Ekaterine Bendeliani, Deputy Director of the EIEC; Maya Javakhishvili, Deputy Head of the Environment and Climate Change Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia; Nino Antadze, Head of the Environmental Protection and Energy Division of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP); and Georgia's Environmental Outlook (GEO). Program manager, Khatuna Gogaladze.

The chapters "Limitations and Gaps" and "National Circumstances" of the 5NC/1BTR report were presented during the meeting. A conversation about the needs of the nation in particular sectors was held with the involvement of the attendees.

The "Development of Georgia's Fifth National Communication and First Biennial Transparency Report to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (5NC/1BTR)" project was initiated by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia. The project is implemented by the EIEC in cooperation with the non-governmental organization Georgia's Environmental Outlook (GEO), with the support of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The task of the project is to assist the Government of Georgia in the process of preparing the Fifth National Communication (5NC) and the First Biennial Transparency Report (1BTR) in the form of a combined report to submit to the UNFCCC following its obligations. In addition, the project will strengthen existing institutional structures to ensure transparency of measures related to climate change and contribute to the achievement of long-term goals aimed at eliminating the consequences of climate change.
