A seminar for media representatives was organized on water resources management and water security challenges on March 22, 2024, in conjunction with World Water Day.
Maya Javakhishvili, the Deputy Head of the Environment and Climate Change Department of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia; Tamar Aladashvili, the Director of the EIEC; and Eric Viala, the Head of the USAID South Caucasus Regional Water Management Program (SCRWM), presented informative reports at the meeting.
The purpose of the event was to facilitate a conversation on topics including the application of Georgia's recently passed water resources management law and the media's ability to influence water users' behavior among government officials, experts, and members of the public.
In addition to discussions about media needs and challenges, the workshop participants learned about USAID's new South Caucasus Regional Water Management Program (SCRWM) and the importance of water security in Georgia in the South Caucasus regional context.
The seminar was held within the USAID-funded South Caucasus Regional Water Management Program (SCRWM) in cooperation with the Environmental Information and Education Center (EIEC).
