The winners of the "Green Award - Pre-school Environmental Education 2024" and "Green Award - Environmental and Agricultural Education at School 2024" were Nino Barbakadze-Kakhniashvili, a teacher at Tbilisi City's N126 Kindergarten, and Nino Kachkachashvili, a natural science and biology teacher at the public schools of Arali and Varkhani, Adigeni Municipality.

Winners were presented with awards by Minister Otar Shamugia.
"Educating our children, the next generation, and passing on information to them in the areas of agricultural and environmental education is a huge responsibility and should be acknowledged. I have the utmost regard for teachers and educators. The contest winners' award ceremony is conducted in conjunction with the global celebration of the Day of Environment Protection on June 5, which has symbolic meaning.

I congratulate everyone and wish you a healthy life. The priority of our government and ministry is to take care of and protect the environment and its unique nature. In this direction, we are working on the tasks that we have set within the framework of the association agreement as well as other international obligations. It is worth noting the fact that we have already implemented several reforms to protect our unique nature and healthy environment. In the future, these reforms will be even more large-scale," said Otar Shamugia.

The "Green Award" contest has been held by the EIEC since 2018. The purpose of the contest is to identify and encourage those teachers and educators who take care of children's environmental and agricultural education and actively use the manuals "Pre-school Environmental Education" and "Environmental and Agricultural Education at School" in the educational process.

Within the event, the Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Otar Shamugia, presented certificates to the employees of the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Abkhazia for their contribution to environmental protection.
