Under the organization of the EIEC of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, studies in the green camp "Climate Ambassadors 2024" have started. The green camp was opened by the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia Solomon Pavliashvili, and the Climate Program Manager of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Tornike Phullariani.
The camp will provide youth with an opportunity to raise awareness of environmental issues such as biodiversity; sustainable management of forest resources and practical work; hydrological and geological hazards; Disaster risk reduction, its basic concept, and terms; safety rules during disasters; Threat and vulnerability assessment and risk determination
Based on the contest, more than 50 young people from different regions of Georgia were selected to participate in the Green Camp, including target municipalities of the program "Reducing the Risk of Climate-Driven Disasters in Georgia.".
The Green Climate Fund (GCF), the governments of Sweden and Switzerland, the Government of Georgia, and the EIEC are the founders of the "Climate Change Disaster Risk Reduction in Georgia" initiative, which includes the Green Camp "Climate Ambassadors." The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) oversees the program's execution.
