Issues of the importance of the Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System (AKIS) were discussed in the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia

Members of the National Academy of Sciences positively evaluated the support for the introduction of effective coordination mechanisms between various institutions in the agricultural direction and the reforms implemented by the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture.

The meeting was attended by Roin Metreveli, the president of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia, members of the National Academy of Sciences, representatives of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture and invited guests.

The meeting was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture within the framework of the project "Modernization of the Vocational Education System in Georgian Agriculture VET (Phase 3)", which is funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) and supported by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP).

Deputy Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture Solomon Pavliashvili presented the Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System (AKIS) module to the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia. Academy members received detailed information about the agricultural knowledge and innovation system of Georgia. Solomon Pavliashvili spoke about the importance of AKIS systems and extension services in the EU countries and noted that the AKIS system provides access to knowledge and innovations for interested parties in agriculture and implementation of effective coordination mechanisms.
