51 young people successfully completed the Green Camp "Climate Ambassadors" of the Environmental Information and Education Center of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture.
Ekaterine Bendeliani, deputy director of the Center for Environmental Information and Education, and Tornike Pulariani , the climate program manager of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), presented certificates to the participants of the camp.
The young people selected on the basis of the competition represented different regions of Georgia, including the target municipalities of the program "Reducing the risk of disasters caused by climate change in Georgia".
Green Camp participants worked with field specialists on biodiversity, sustainable forest resource management, hydrological and geological hazards, disaster risk reduction, hazard assessment and risk identification. Camp participants received information about the activities of the Department of Geology and Hydrometeorology. Observing systems used for weather forecasting and early warning were discussed.
The Green Camp "Climate Ambassadors" was organized by the Environmental Information and Education Center of the Ministry of Environment and Agriculture within the framework of the large-scale initiative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) "Reducing the risk of disasters caused by climate change in Georgia", which serves to protect the population of Georgia from disasters caused by climate change and It is implemented with the support of the Green Climate Fund (GCF), the governments of Georgia, Sweden and Switzerland.
