A clean-up event was held in the vicinity of the Tbilisi Sea

As part of the celebration of World Cleaning Day, a cleaning action was held in the vicinity of the Tbilisi Sea.

The cleanup activity was attended by Solomon Pavliashvili, Georgia's Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.

Representatives of the Parliament of Georgia and Tbilservice Group also took part in the cleaning action organised by the Swedish Development Agency and the non-governmental organisation "Green Movement/Friends of the Earth."

Georgia celebrates World Cleanup  Day with a three-day cleaning campaign.

On September 17-19, cleaning actions will be undertaken around the nation as part of the initiative "Keep Georgia Tidy"

According to the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection and Agriculture, the regulation of the waste management system significantly helps to mitigate the negative effects of climate change.

"It is very crucial and necessary to undertake awareness-raising efforts, as well as to participate in cleaning actions, when it comes to the need for effective waste management," Solomon Pavliashvili said.

It should be noted that September 18 is World Cleaning Day. The international campaign was launched in 1993 at the initiative of the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and involves 133 countries. Since 2010, Georgia has been actively celebrating World Cleanup Day.
