If you are interested in forester profession, forest management system or simply forest biodiversity and at the same time you are a student of class IX-XII, then this program is for you.
We are looking for motivated, energetic and positive people who are interested in all issues related to the forest.
To participate in the forestry school, you need:
• To be a student of class IX-XII;
• To be interested in all the issues that concern the forest;
• To be able to devote 4 hours a week to us;
• To have access to the Internet.
Please consider/note that Forestry School classes will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM using the ZOOM platform.
Within the framework of the school, the participants will learn about issues related to the forest, as well as develop the ability to think critically, defend their own opinion and work in a team, and most importantly, they will make friends from all over the country.
Within the program you will gain knowledge about the following topics:
• The forests of Georgia and their importance on the global stage
• The role of forests in achieving sustainable development goals
• The types of forests/major forest-forming woody species, timber and non-timber resources, pests
• Principles of sustainable forest management
• Forest biodiversity
• Climate change and its impact on forests, natural triggers/challenges
• Forest fires
• Energy efficiency, alternative fuels such as forest pressure reduction
• Protected areas, ecotourism
• Forest monitoring and law enforcement mechanisms, forest logging accounting
• The forester profession, Forestry education and employment sectors
• Media-literacy
Various approaches will be used in the process of teaching, specifically:
• Discussion of real cases
• Role playing games
• Discussions
• Interesting guests
• field trips
• specific visits
After completion of studies, certificates and commemorative gifts will be given to you and most importantly, you will become friends of the Center for Environmental Information and Education. You will have the opportunity to actively participate in the future activities of the center.
• Please note that the status of a student in the forestry school will be granted only to the participant who regularly attends the lectures. Only 3 absences will be counted as honorable.
