The world ozone day

Within the World Ozone Day, a lecture seminar was held for ‘’Green School’’ students on ‘’Ozone Layer and its Protection.’’

According to the Montreal Protocol, the theme of ‘’World Ozone Day’’  is ‘’ozone for life’’ focused on recovering the ozone layer and dealing with the challenges of climate change.   

Teona Shubladze, the trainer of the EIEC, gave a speech in detail on the essence of the ozone layer thinning problem, the mechanisms of ozone layer protection, and the actions needed to protect the layer.

The meeting was held in an interactive environment, and students received complete answers to their questions.

The General Assembly, concerning the assignment of the Montreal Protocol on ozone layer-depleting substances, announced September 16 as a ‘’World Ozone Day.'' 197 countries celebrate this day. September 16 reminds us about our responsibilities to protect the ozone layer for our planet's health.

Georgia signed the  Vena Convention about ozone layer protection and the Montreal Protocol regarding the ozone layer-depleting substances. The country has already taken steps to reduce the consumption of the most dangerous ozone-depleting substances: chlorine-fluorine-carbons and hydrogen-chlorine-fluorine-carbons. 

The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, with tight cooperation with partner institutions, with the support of the Montreal Protocol versatile funding and the support of UNDP. UNEP, UNIDO, is implementing significant contributions regarding the protection and recovery of the ozone layer.

By 2030, Georgia will finally stop using ozone layer-depleting substances.

Public hearings
