The Assay contest ‘’ the soil as the origin of life’’

The EIEC within the Soil International Day announces the Assay contest ‘’ The Soil as Origin of Life’’ 

Soil Day is celebrated on December 5 every year. The message of Soil Day in 2024 is: "Soil care: measures, management, monitoring." The celebration of this day mainly emphasizes the cruciality of accurate soil data to understand its main characteristics and to make informed decisions on soil-related activities and actions that help protect soil and create a sustainable future. 

Terms to participate  in the contest:

Students of classes VII-X from all over Georgia can participate in the contest.

Evaluation criteria: • relevance to the topic;

• Knowledge of agricultural and environmental issues
• Forming own/original opinions;
• skills of narration and original and concise presentation of thoughts;
• grammatical and content fluency of the text;
• The essay should not be only descriptive, and the individual vision and opinion of the author should be reflected in it;

  Other details related to the contest.

• The paper must be submitted as a Word file (font: Sylfaen; font size 11; spacing: 1.15);
• Essay volume: up to 300-800 words (1-3 pages)
• The author's name, surname, age, grade, school name, city/village, mobile phone number, and email should be indicated in the essay.

Method of work submissions:

The electronic version of the essay should be sent as a Word document to the following address: info@eiec.gov.ge, indicating "Essay Competition" in the subject line. The final date for submitting works is October 30.

Essays will be evaluated by a specially created commission according to pre-determined criteria; within the contest, the winners will be identified at the project summary event and awarded prizes.
