Within the "Environmental and Agricultural Education at School" programme, more than 370 teachers in Samtskhe-Javakheti were retrained

Solomon Pavliashvili, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, and Governor of Samtskhe-Javakheti, Besik Amiranashvili, met with trained teachers across Samtskhe-Javakheti. The trained teachers received certificates and a copy of the "Environmental and Agricultural Education at School" textbooks.

The Environmental Information and Education Centre has been implementing the programme "Environmental and Agricultural Education at School" for primary school teachers across Georgia since 2021. At this stage, over 6,400 teachers have received training, including more than 370 from Samtskhe-Javakheti.

A teaching aid manual, “Environmental and Agricultural Education at School”, was prepared at the Environmental Information and Education Centre. The manual covers important topics of environmental and agricultural education, which are easily adaptable for primary school students (grades I-VI). young people in the programme learn the fundamentals of topics like sustainable development, biodiversity protection, water resources protection, air protection from pollution, climate action and reducing natural hazards, waste management, land management and combating desertification, sustainable agriculture, food safety, and quality.

Maka Beridze, the rector of Samtskhe-Javakheti State University, Akhaltsikhe Mayor Irakli Lazarashvili, and other visitors attended the meeting with the teachers.
