"Green and Agro Scholarships" were awarded to successful students

The Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia actively cooperates with higher and vocational educational institutions. The Environmental Information and Education Centre, which has been carrying out the ambitious "Green and Agro-Scholarships" initiative for the past three years, is in charge of this crucial collaboration. Scholarships for 500–1,500 GEL were awarded to 64 students from 10 universities and 12 vocational institutes. "Green and Agro-Scholarships are an additional incentive for students to study, gain knowledge, and experience." Stated Solomon Pavliashvili, Deputy Minister of the  Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, at the scholarship presentation ceremony.

It was mentioned that the "Green and Agro-Scholarships" program seeks to encourage professional, undergraduate, and graduate students to succeed academically in environmental and agricultural fields while also addressing deficit occupations in these fields.

Agronomy, Food Technologies, Veterinary Medicine, Viticulture-Enology, Forestry, Plant Protection, and other programs are eligible for Agricultural Scholarships, while "Green Scholarships" are eligible for the following master's programs: Ecology, Physical Geography and Sustainable Environmental Development, Integrated Water Resources Management (Hydrology), Geology, Applied Geography, Environmental Management and Policy, and Environmental Protection Technologies.

The scholarship award ceremony was attended by First Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, Nino Tandilashvili; Deputy Ministers Kakha Kakabadze and Yuri Nozadze; Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia, Tamar Ghvamichava; UNDP Resident Representative in Georgia, Douglas Webb; Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, Lela Mamrikishvili; Director of the EIEC, Tamar Aladashvili; and representatives of universities and colleges.

The "Green Scholarships" programme is implemented by the EIEC within the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) large-scale initiative "Reducing the risk of climate0driven diasater in Georgia", with the support of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) and the governments of Georgia, Sweden and Switzerland; while the "Agro Scholarships" programme is implemented by the same centre within the framework of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) "Modernisation of the Vocational Education System in Agriculture of Georgia VET (stage 3)" project, with funding from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC).
