Information on handling climate change threats was presented during a seminar organised by the EIEC, which was attended by around fifty representatives of central and regional media.
Strengthening local ability to address climate change-related hazards is a critical problem for the nation, according to the media seminar. The importance of the media in adequately educating the public about the dangers of natural hazards and how to mitigate them was highlighted throughout the meetings. The ongoing project "Reducing the risk of climate-driven disasters in Georgia," which is funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Green Climate Fund (GCF), and the Government of Georgia, served as the backdrop for the media seminar that took place in Telavi.
Two journalistic groups attended the lectures. For three days, each group received relevant details and information. The seminars were attended by journalists from the Autonomous Republic of Adjara, Racha-Lechkhumi-Kvemo Svaneti, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, Imereti, Guria, Kakheti, Kvemo Kartli, Shida Kartli, and Tbilisi.
Thematic discussions were held in a question-and-answer mode.
As part of the media seminar, journalists visited the Telavi Meteorological Station, the Lechuri Hydrological Observatory, and the Akhmeta Embankment.
