Earth Hour was celebrated in Georgia

On March 27, at 20:30 local time, "Earth Hour" was celebrated in Georgia, as well as around the world. Earth Hour is one of the largest environmental activities. Millions of people refuse to use electricity for one hour, thus expressing their support for the green and secure future of the planet. Earth Hour is a symbol of unity and hope. The main purpose of the 2021 event is to talk about the need for nature conservation in a variety of creative ways.

At the initiative of the Eiec of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, an online meeting called "Earth Hour" was held to discuss the importance of nature protection. 

Nino Tkhilava, Head of the Department of Environment and Climate Change of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, representatives of the Nature Protection Fund (WWF) and the Caucasus Network of Environmental Non-Governmental Organisations (CENN) addressed the audience during the event. The speakers talked about the importance of raising public environmental awareness and climate change. 

Schoolchildren and officials from environmentally friendly businesses attended the conference. The President's residence, the Government Administration building, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture and other ministries, the Parliament building, the Rikhe Park area, the Peace Bridge, Narikala Fortress, St. George's Monument in Freedom Square, Freedom Square. located in buildings, old Tbilisi buildings, Tbilisi TV Tower, Tbilisi City Hall, and the Student Youth Palace all had their lights turned off for an hour. The Tbilisi TV tower was lit green throughout the night as part of the event.

The Eiec  celebrated the event with the support of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and the Caucasus Network of Environmental Non-Governmental Organisations (CENN).

Earth Hour was first conducted in 2007 by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) in Australia. Launched in Sydney as a symbolic one-off event, Earth Hour has gained momentum and has been joined by individuals, businesses, and organisations.

Public hearings
