Enabling Implementation of Forest Sector Reform in Georgia to Reduce GHG Emissions from Forest Degradation

The project was developed in order to support the forestry sector in Georgia, to contribute to the mitigation of climate change and the implementation of the ongoing forest reform. Through forest restoration, reduction of forest loss, sustainable forest management and conservation, the project contributes to increasing forest carbon reserves, as well as helping to develop markets for energy-efficient and alternative fuels, improving living conditions and increasing the role of local self-government in sustainable forest management, raising awareness, professional skills through improvement and appropriate policies and regulations.

The target municipalities of the project are: Tianeti, Ozurgeti, Lanchkhuti, Chokhatauri, Dedoplistskaro, Telavi, Akhmeta and Kvareli.

Within the framework of the project, the EIEC ensures the implementation of various activities at the national level, in order to raise awareness of society.

Expected outputs in this direction:
1. Development of an online knowledge management and training platform
2. Planning and implementation of awareness raising campaign at the national level.
