Project Objective: To advance the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) process in Georgia through:
• Strengthening governance and coordination of adaptation planning;
• Identifying, analyzing and prioritizing information on climate change impacts and adaptation;
• Developing a targeted strategy for private sector engagement;
• Designing a financing strategy for NAP implementation;
• Establishing and strengthening a system for monitoring, evaluation, and learning within the NAP process.
Expected Project Outputs:
The project will develop a 10-year vision for climate change adaptation and a 5-year National Adaptation Plan (NAP). Additionally, climate adaptation plans will be prepared for four target regions in Georgia and six sectors: agriculture, forestry, tourism, energy, strategic infrastructure, and health. Furthermore, the project will produce summary documents on medium and long-term climate risk assessments; a document describing methodologies for climate change scenarios and climate risk assessments; a stakeholder engagement plan; a strategic roadmap for NAP formulation; a communication strategy; other necessary assessments, recommendations, guidelines, and training materials.
