The EIEC announces a media contest for journalists and bloggers titled "Let's protect the Georgian forest together."
The contest is open to any journalist and blogger who submits a published article, a blog, social media post or video story about the protection of forests.
The following topics may be covered in the contest work:
• The importance of using the media and other information platforms to spread knowledge of proper forest use and protection;
• The condition of the forest, regional management strategies in use, issues and solutions (improper use of forest resources, poaching, forest fires, etc.);
• The importance of forest resources to both people and the environment;
• Personal example, history related to the mentioned topic
The contest is carried out by the EIEC under the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, within the project ECO.Georgia, and aims to raise public awareness and intends to inform the public about the following issues:
• The pressure on forest resources and potential solutions;
• Sustainable forest management, existing challenges and solutions in this area;
• Reducing forest pressure through alternative means.
The top three works will be chosen, and winners will receive awards.
Conditions for submission of contest work:
• Contest works must be submitted electronically via e-mail to info@eiec.gov.ge, with the title "Media competition";
• The author/author's name and surname, contact information (phone number, e-mail), the date and location of publication of the contest work, and a brief description of the work must be specified in the email;
• Publication of the submitted material is required.
Evaluation criteria:
• Congruence to the concept of the competition;
• Integrating one's vision and style in the work;
• Presenting own/original viewpoints;
• Indication of sources used
